Eagles- The Last Resort Best
She came from Providence
The one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang
Heavy in the air
She packed her hopes and dreams
Like a refugee
Just as her father came across the sea
She heard about a place people were smiling
They spoke about the red man's way他们说着印第安人的趣事
And how they loved the land
And they came from everywhere
To the Great Divide
Seeking a place to stand
Or a place to hide
Down in the crowded bars
Out for a good time显露出一个繁荣时期
Can't wait to tell you all等不及告诉你一切
What it's like up there那里到底像什么
And they called it paradise
I don't know why
Somebody laid the mountains low
While the town got high
Then the chilly winds blew down然后寒冷的风吹来
Across the desert
Through the canyons of the coast,
To the Malibu
Where the pretty people play,
Hungry for power
To light their neon way为了照亮他们的新迁之路
And give them things to do并且给予他们事情去做
Some rich men came and raped the land,
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus,
People bought them人们买来他们
And they called it paradise
The place to be这个未来的地方
They watched the hazy sun, sinking in the sea
You can leave it all behind
And sail to Lahaina
Just like the missionaries did, so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign:"Jesus is coming"
Brought the white man's burden down带来白人的担子
Brought the white man's reign
Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here我们需要在这里制造出来
We satifsy our endless needs
And justify our bloody deeds,
In the name of destiny
And the name of God
And you can see them there,你可以看见他们在那里
On Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about他们站起来并唱着
What it's like up there那里到底像什么
They call it paradise
I don't know why
You call someplace paradise,
Kiss it goodbye

the last resort,感觉更加深涩。
Just as her father came across the sea。
“they came from everywhere”,纽约在50年代已经成为国际都市,everywhere的意义除了美国各州,很可能也包括世界各国。
Some rich men came and raped the land,Nobody caught'em,让他们深爱的原因无非权势和金钱。
We satisfy our endless needs, and justify our bloody deeds,in the name of destiny and the name of God。
They call it paradise,I don't know why;You call someplace paradise,kiss it goodbye这几句看来,所谓“最后的胜地”不过是藏污纳垢之所。
